fomo app fees explained: trading costs, spreads and taxes
Disclosure: this page contains a referral link. If you sign up through it, this site may earn a share of the fees you pay on fomo. It does not change what we write or what you pay.
fomo app fees come down to one number for most users: about 0.45% per spot trade, with gas included. Perps cost 0.05% plus protocol fees, and are not available to US persons. fomo’s own FAQ describes the fee as “competitive” with “gas included, no hidden spreads” without printing a percentage, so the 0.45% figure comes from this site’s research and you should confirm it on the fee line in the app before you tap buy.
Memecoin trading is high-risk speculation, not financial advice, and most people who trade memecoins lose money. Fees are a small part of why; the tokens themselves are the bigger part.
fomo app trading fees at a glance
| Cost | What is known | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Spot trade | About 0.45% per trade, gas included | This site’s research; fomo says “competitive, gas included” |
| Perps | 0.05% plus protocol fees; not for US persons | fomo’s perps announcement |
| Gas | Included in the trade fee | fomo FAQ |
| Spreads | fomo says no hidden spreads | fomo FAQ |
| Apple Pay funding | Cost not published | fomo FAQ lists the method only |
| Debit card funding | Cost not published; fomo says banks may block it | fomo FAQ |
| ACH bank transfer | fomo says free, 1 to 5 days | fomo FAQ |
| Crypto deposit | No fomo fee stated; you pay the sending network’s gas | Not published by fomo |
| Withdrawal to bank | Cost not published | fomo FAQ gives timing only |
| Crypto withdrawal | Network fee handling not published | Not published by fomo |
| Account or subscription | None listed | fomo.family |
The two rows most worth watching are the onramp rows. Apple Pay and card purchases of crypto almost always carry a processing cost somewhere, and fomo does not say what it is. The deposit screen should show the amount of crypto you get for your dollars; compare that to the market price and you have the real cost of that funding method. The deposit guide covers each method.
Is the fomo app free?
Free to download and free to hold an account, as far as fomo.family says. There is no subscription tier, no premium plan and no listed fee for keeping a balance. You pay when you trade, and possibly when you fund the account by card.
That model is why the trading fee is higher than a plain wallet swap. fomo bundles routing, gas, the cross-chain balance and the social features into one per-trade charge.
How the fomo spot fee works
fomo charges the fee on both sides. Buy a token, pay about 0.45%. Sell it, pay about 0.45% again. A round trip costs roughly 0.9% of your position before the token has moved at all. On a $500 buy and sell that is about $4.50.
Gas is folded in. fomo holds one balance across Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Monad and Robinhood Chain, and it does not ask you to bridge or hold a separate gas token per chain. From the user’s side that reads as gasless, but the gas is still paid; it is just inside the fee.
Referral codes are reported to give a 10% discount on this fee for referred users. fomo does not publish the number, so the app’s signup screen is the source of truth. The fomo app referral code page has the code and the details.

fomo perps fees
Perps launched on fomo on 11 June 2026, powered by Hyperliquid and Trade[XYZ]. The fee is 0.05% plus protocol fees, which means the underlying venue’s own charges sit on top of fomo’s cut. Markets include crypto, US equities, a pre-IPO name, indices and commodities, with isolated margin and take profit and stop loss orders.
fomo states plainly that perpetuals are not available to US persons. If you are in the US, the perps fee does not apply to you because the product does not.
What is not a fee: slippage and price impact
New traders often blame “fees” for a loss that was really slippage. They are different things and only one of them goes to fomo.
Slippage is the gap between the price you saw and the price you got. On a thin memecoin pool it can be several percent. Price impact is the part of that gap you caused yourself: a big buy into a small pool pushes the price up as the trade executes. Neither is a charge from fomo, and neither shows up on the fee line.
Trades on fomo route through DFlow, which fomo says provides MEV protection. That helps against bots front-running your order. It does not remove slippage, because slippage comes from the pool’s liquidity, not from bots.
The practical lesson: on small-cap tokens, slippage and price impact will usually cost you more than the 0.45% fee. The memecoin profit calculator lets you plug in pool liquidity and position size to see the difference before you trade.
fomo app taxes: the US basics
This is not tax advice. It is the plain version of rules that catch people out.
In the US, the IRS treats crypto as property. That means swapping one token for another is a taxable event, the same as selling it for dollars. Buying a memecoin with SOL, then selling it for SOL a day later, creates a gain or loss on the memecoin trade that you are expected to report. The IRS digital assets page is the source for that rule.
What that means for a memecoin trader:
- Every sell, and every swap into a different token, is a taxable disposal.
- Gains on positions held under a year are short-term and taxed as ordinary income.
- Losses can offset gains, which for most memecoin traders is the part that matters.
- fomo’s fee reduces your proceeds, so it reduces your gain or increases your loss.
Keep records. Date, token, amount, price in dollars at the time, and fee for every trade. fomo’s blog recaps mention a tax integration, which suggests some export exists; check the app’s settings for it. If there is no export, screenshot your trade history regularly, because reconstructing a year of memecoin swaps after the fact is miserable.
Outside the US the rules differ. Many countries also tax crypto-to-crypto swaps, but the thresholds and rates vary. Ask someone qualified where you live.
How fomo fees compare
We do not publish competitor fee numbers here because they change and we cannot verify them the way fomo’s can be checked in the app. What can be said in general: a self-custody wallet swap typically charges a lower headline fee but leaves you to handle gas, bridging and MEV yourself. fomo charges more per trade and bundles those in. Whether that trade-off suits you depends on how much you value not thinking about gas.
The fomo app alternatives page compares the apps by feature rather than by fee.
Getting the fee down
There are only two real levers. Trade less often, since each round trip costs about 0.9%. And sign up with a referral code, which third parties report cuts fomo’s fee by 10%. Nothing on fomo.family describes volume tiers or a fee-free promotion for regular users.
Before you fund the account, read how withdrawals work on fomo too. Knowing the exit path before you enter is a habit that saves money.
